Had the mixed starter for two, basement sea bass, sticky rice, and Pud Thai delivered to our caravan site this evening. The woman who handled our order and delivered the food was friendly and everything delivered on time. The food was scrummy and both of us ended up eating for the sake of eating as we didn't want to waste any. Even the simple carrot side salad was really tasty. Food was well presented despite it being a take away. We will definitely eat there again.
Lovely food and ambiance. It was my first time trying Thai food, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.. I had green curry chicken with rice, and it was so tasty, my partner got the Pad Thai, and that was so good too.. for starters we had duck spring rolls.. The portions were quite big, we didn't manage to finish everything.. Restaurant itself is located in a basement, like the name suggests, and it's such a hidden gem.. Compliments to our server too as she was really great and made the experience better. We had a good experience and will visit again as long as we stay in the area.
We enjoyed an unexpected evening meal at this restaurant. The waiting staff were friendly and swift in their service. Portion size was ample and the food we ordered was delicious, served hot and flavoursome. A cosy spot and busy with other satisfied customers, including another family, on a Tuesday evening. Our son described the meal as "brilliant" which for his fussy ways that is 5 star rating.
Had a lovely meal with my wife at the Thai Basement in Ashbourne. This had been recommended by our in-laws and it didn’t disappoint. Unlike other local Thai’s, the menu is more catered towards western tastes but the food and service did not disappoint. Would recommend a visit if you’re in the area and would also advise to make a reservation and not just turn up as it gets very busy.

Arrived for the early bird menu on Sunday. Very competitive pricing, starters were served 5 minutes after ordering and main was served within 5 minutes of our starter plates being taken away. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would have been nice during our main course for someone to ask us if everything was OK with the food or if we needed anything but apart from this everything was excellent. Would highly recommend.
After visiting Thailand it’s been difficult to find similar flavors, but The Basement is the closest we’ve found to it. Great Thai flavor! We had the Tom kha, pad Thai, green curry, and spring rolls. All were fantastic
On way back from Alton Towers my wife asked kids what type of kitchen they want. The answer was Thai. Quick research on Google Maps and the result was inly 1 restaurant 20 miles radius: The Basement. It was great choice! Fantastic food, clean and tidy, friendly staff, reasonable prices. And the best Thai soup I ever had! Thanks!
